NOBADPDF
A downloadable tool for Windows
I work with scientific documents a lot, and lately also with LLM output — both end up as markdown that needs to become a decent PDF. Every online converter annoyed me in the same way: upload your file to their server, fight the settings, get a mediocre PDF back, and a watermark pushing a subscription. Except pdf24 nothing out there really satisfied me, and even that got on my nerves after a while.
So I built NOBADPDF. The whole point is: drag your .md files in (or a whole folder), get a properly typeset PDF back. No upload dialog, no account, no cloud — the app runs 100% offline on your machine, which matters to me because half of what I convert isn't public yet and don't want my private docs be leaked anywhere.
What it does:
- 5 hand-tuned templates: arXiv-style, IEEE two-column, Elsevier-style, business report, formal letter. Real typography, working math (KaTeX).
- Drag & drop a folder of .md files, convert them all in one go, export everything to a folder of your choice with an index.html.
- No watermark, no accounts, no subscription. Ever.
- Windows app, ~13 MB installer, opens in its own window.
It's $5 for a lifetime supporter key (optional — can't pay? DM me (here -https://www.reddit.com/user/Silent-Draw1700/) and I'll send a key for free). I'm not trying to rent-seek here; I just wanted a tool that doesn't fight me, and maybe it helps you too.
What you get: a NOBADPDF supporter key (nobadpdf.key file). The app itself is free — download it from the link in my Reddit post. Your key shows a "Supporter" badge with your name in the app. One key, lifetime, all future versions. No DRM, no activation servers — the key is a plain text file.
